At Dow, we are shaping the future of infrastructure with creativity, efficiency, and integrity. We embrace innovation and cutting-edge technologies to enhance project efficiency, safety, cost-effectiveness, and minimize environmental impact.

As a leading site contractor, we are known for our expertise, reliability, and commitment to building a better future for our clients and communities.

Mike and Mark, sons of Mary and Don, joined the family business in the late 1960s. Mike, skilled with numbers, focused on estimating, while Mark, a problem solver, advanced to run field operations. After Don's passing in 1984, they took on greater responsibilities. In the early 1990s, the fifth generation - Todd, Brent, and Dana -entered as laborers. The Big Dig project in Boston became a key opportunity for growth, allowing Mike and Mark to secure significant contracts and establish a trusted partnership with MASSPORT through their combined efforts in bidding and problem-solving. As the business expanded in the 2000s, Brent, Dana, and Todd assumed more prominent roles; Dana managed equipment maintenance, Brent learned estimating, and Todd collaborated with Mark in field operations. Mike and Mark led the company under Mary until her death in 2016. Mike served as President until 2019, followed by Mark until his retirement in 2021.

Since 2016, leadership passed to brothers Mike and Mark Dow, along with the fifth-generation Dows: Todd, Brent, and Dana.

OUR HISTORY

The Dow Company, founded in 1904 by Robert Dow, initially focused on land clearing, lumbering, and ice cutting. Over time, it transitioned to excavation and pipe installation, evolving alongside technological advancements.

Allie Dow, Robert's son, led the company after his father's passing, with support from his wife Ernie and adviser Al Skaff. Following Allie's death, Ernie took over until her retirement, passing leadership to her son Donald. Under Donald's tenure, the company expanded its scope and undertook larger projects.

In 1956, the company was incorporated, with Donald as Treasurer and his wife Mary as President. Mary, the second female leader of the Dow Company, played a significant role in the company's success. Mary would hold leadership roles in multiple women-in-construction organizations and was often a mentor to younger women in the industry. She remained active in the company until her passing at the age of 90.

Brent Dow, President

Brent Dow, President of The Dow Company, began his career over 30 years ago as a laborer on projects such as Deer Island and the Big Dig. He steadily progressed through various roles within the company, including foreman, estimator, and project manager, before becoming Vice President and ultimately President.

Brent's experience spans from field operations to project management, providing him with a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry. He is also a member of the CIM’s Labor Relations Board, contributing to industry discussions and initiatives.

Brent is married to Stefanie and has two grown children, Christopher and Alycia, along with a stepson, William. Christopher works at The Dow Company, continuing the family tradition. In his free time, Brent enjoys spending time at their camp on a local pond, boating, and enjoying outdoor activities with family, friends, and their dog, Layla.

Todd Dow, Vice President

Todd Dow, the Vice President of The Dow Company, has been an integral part of the construction industry since 1991. Beginning his career straight out of high school as a union laborer, Todd's dedication and hard work have seen him rise through the ranks, from laborer to foreman, superintendent, project manager, operations manager, and now Vice President. His comprehensive experience provides him with a unique perspective on all facets of the company.

Todd is actively involved in the Construction Industries of Massachusetts (CIM), serving on its board since June 2020 and recently being elected as the Secretary of the executive board in June 2024. His commitment to the industry is paralleled by his dedication to his community, having served on the North Andover Middle School fields improvement committee to design a new sports complex for the town.

A family man at heart, Todd enjoyed coaching his children, Kayla and Eric, in various sports while they were in school. When they weren’t on the sports fields, they shared a passion for riding snowmobiles and ATVs at their camp up north. His need for speed is shared with his fiancée, Lynn, who also loves fast cars, boats, and motorcycles. Together, they enjoy traveling with family and entertaining friends by the pool during their downtime. His passion for speed and outdoor activities reflects his dynamic and energetic approach to both his professional and personal life.

Dana Dow, Vice President of the Dow Company, has been an integral part of the team since 1994. Starting his career alongside Todd and Brent as a laborer, Dana steadily advanced through the company, eventually taking on the role of Vice President. Today, he oversees the Equipment Division, where he is responsible for managing the company's fleet of trucks and machinery, ensuring all coordination, repairs, and purchasing needs are met.

Outside of work, Dana enjoys spending time with his wife, Jamie, as they support their children in Junior Drag Racing competitions. Sharing a love for speed and adventure, Dana also enjoys snowmobiling. When he’s not in the fast lane, he indulges in a quieter passion for collecting antique construction equipment and toys, blending his professional expertise with a personal interest in the industry's rich history.
